Axel Jönsson

Hey!

My name is Axel, and I am from Finland. However I have lived in 8 countries during my 24 year life, most recently in Barcelona, Spain, where I completed my Masters degree in Innovation and Entrepreneurship. That is where my interests also lie, in new ideas, creative solutions to problems and playing around with the latest and greatest technology.

Coming from the land of Nokia, mobile phones have always been a large part of my life and I continue to be fascinated by them. It is a great time to be involved and following what is happening in the space.

Beyond the passion for tech, I’m a huge fan of video games (PlayStation), films and tv and I am a fairly obsessive health nut. Formula 1 also tends to take over most of my weekends, as well as almost any other sport.

Through my writing I want to share my views and open up different dimensions into what is really happening in technology, and how and why companies make the decisions they do.

Enjoy!

-Axel

The State of the App-Economy

Whether you refer to it as the post-PC or PC+ era, applications have become a significant part of how we interact with our devices and the world around us. There are over a million apps available on Apple’s App Store and Google Play, and new ones appear every day by the bucket load.

Amazon Smartphone Speculation

The rumors around Amazon building their own smartphone continue to heat up, with reports of a device being in testing and the company hiring former Windows Phone executives adding to the far. So far it has all been speculation, but the consensus around a late 2012 or early 2013 launch is fairly strong. Given the cut-throat competition in the mobile industry, does it make sense for Amazon to enter such a highly contested space?
